Esther Kamkar was born in Tehran. She grew up reading the Persian poets in Farsi and enjoys poetry in many languages. She began writing 14 years ago primarily in English. Esther has been published in several literary magazines, but rather than listing her publications, she prefers to "let the poems speak for themselves and perhaps for me." Her poems are lyrical, tangible and fresh. At a recent poetry reading, she was given the following introduction, "I don't know Esther very well, but she is
